OEM Number Guides
OEM Part Number vs Model Number vs Serial Number: What Buyers Should Send
OEM number, machine model, and serial number answer different questions; sending all three makes part review faster.
The OEM part number identifies the component reference, the model number identifies the machine family, and the serial number helps narrow production changes. For international sourcing, the best inquiry includes all three plus photos of the old part.
If only the model number is available, the request may still be reviewed, but the buyer should expect follow-up questions about dimensions, connector type, mounting, engine option, or regional configuration.
Reference Table
| OEM part number | Usually printed, stamped, cast, or listed in a parts catalog. |
|---|---|
| Model number | Identifies the equipment model but may not identify the exact component. |
| Serial number | Helps check production-year or configuration differences. |
